Sustainability – Starting A Conversation
When Chef David Boyd began his journey founding Down to Earth Cuisine, he was determined to run a business with an emphasis to reducing plastic waste. Because if we do not, our future and our planet is what suffers. David is passionate about the environment and reducing his impact. He understands in order to accomplish this that we must lead by example. And here at Down to Earth Cuisine, David teaches his team about how to shop and work sustainably, and why it is so important.
How Our Company Addresses Plastic
Our company is only using reusable shopping bags and digital grocery lists. We always buy in bulk, buy glass oil bottles, and use every last bit of product we can. Our chefs only shop for sustainably caught fish, and organic meats. We focus on what we can control because if we do not lead by example others will not follow. We strive to minimize our carbon footprint everyday. This means using compostable containers for our meal delivery service, and for our in-home prepared meal clients, we use glassware to store all their meals.
David continues to be an adamant student and learning new ways to live sustainably. For David, it is not just about minimizing his own carbon footprint. David wants to continue leading by example for others, and to leave a better world behind for his daughter Liya Rose. Our youth are the future. It is important we do everything we can to reduce our waste, clean our oceans, and learn to live sustainably to leave behind an abundant healthy planet.
