Chef Jason Herrera's Bio

Chef Jason Herrera attended The Art Institute for Culinary Arts, where he completed his Associate’s degree and built the foundation for his culinary career.

He worked at a restaurant in Glendora, California, where he started as Garde Manger and worked his way through multiple stations including Grill and Sauté before eventually becoming Sous Chef. During his time there, he learned the importance of attention to detail, strong kitchen discipline, and how to thoughtfully pair ingredients to create new and exciting dishes.

Chef Jason gravitates toward many different cuisines because he enjoys learning, experimenting, and discovering new ingredients and techniques. He especially enjoys working with fresh seasonal ingredients, preparing them in a simple and clean way while creating balanced flavor combinations.

His passion for cooking came after spending years working jobs in construction and warehouses, where he realized that path was not what he wanted for his life. Cooking had always been something he enjoyed, especially helping his mom in the kitchen when he was younger. After a few years in jobs he didn’t enjoy, he made the decision to quit and pursue something he truly loved. Within a week of leaving his job, he enrolled in culinary school, and just a few weeks later, landed his first kitchen position. He hasn’t looked back since.

Outside of the kitchen, Chef Jason enjoys different forms of arts and crafts, including painting and sewing. Music is also a huge part of his life, and he enjoys going to concerts whenever he can.

Fun Fact

A fun fact about Chef Jason is that he loves animals. He grew up with reptiles like geckos and turtles, and currently has five cats and a snake.
