Welcome to Down to Earth Cuisine. By accessing our website at downtoearthcuisine.com or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Services Overview

Down to Earth Cuisine (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a Seattle-based personal chef and organic meal delivery company. We offer the following services:

  • Organic Meal Delivery — Weekly subscription meal plans (6–24 meals) delivered to your door.
  • Weekly Meal Prep — A personal chef prepares a full week of meals in your home kitchen.
  • Private Chef Dinners — Multi-course dining experiences prepared in your home or event space.
  • Event Catering — Custom catering for private events, corporate functions, and special occasions.

2. Meal Delivery Subscription Terms

Ordering and Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed weekly on Mondays.
  • The ordering deadline for the following week’s delivery is Wednesday at 12:00 PM (noon) Pacific Time.
  • Deliveries are made on Sundays within a four-hour delivery window communicated via SMS on the morning of delivery.
  • Meals are delivered in reusable insulated bags. A $10 fee applies for unreturned bags, plus $5 per unreturned ice pack.

Modifications, Skipping, and Cancellation

  • You may edit your meal selections, skip a week, or cancel your subscription at any time before the Monday billing date through your online account.
  • Changes made after billing has occurred for that week cannot be refunded.
  • Cancellation takes effect after the current billing cycle. No partial refunds are issued for the current week.

Food Quality and Storage

  • All meals are prepared with a minimum of 80% organic ingredients, using non-GMO, locally sourced produce and wild-caught seafood.
  • We use only non-inflammatory cooking oils (olive oil, avocado oil) and avoid soy, canola, vegetable, and rapeseed oils.
  • Meals should be refrigerated upon delivery and consumed within 5–7 days. Seafood and fresh vegetable dishes are best consumed within 3–5 days.
  • All meals are packaged in 100% compostable containers.

Dietary Accommodations

We label meals with dietary tags (GF, DF, V, VG) and offer Land & Sea and Vegetarian meal plans. While we accommodate many dietary needs, our kitchen is not a certified allergen-free facility. If you have severe food allergies, please contact us before ordering.

Delivery Area

Meal delivery is currently available in the Greater Seattle area, including Auburn, Bellevue, Bothell, Burien, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent, Kirkland, Medina, Mercer Island, Newcastle, Redmond, Renton, Sammamish, SeaTac, Seattle, Shoreline, and Tukwila. Availability is verified by zip code during checkout.

3. Private Chef and Catering Services

  • Private dinner pricing starts at $100 per guest (8-guest minimum, 3 courses). Additional courses are available at $25 per guest. Pricing is inclusive of service and ingredients.
  • Weekly meal prep and catering pricing varies based on the number of meals, complexity, and number of guests. A complimentary consultation is required.
  • We are not permitted to provide alcoholic beverages but can suggest wine pairings in advance.
  • Cancellation terms for private chef and catering engagements are established during the consultation and agreement process.

4. Payments

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment card details on our servers. Payment processing is subject to Stripe’s terms of service and PCI-DSS compliance standards. Gift cards issued by Down to Earth Cuisine are non-refundable and have no expiration date.

5. Refunds

If you are unsatisfied with a delivery or experience a quality issue, please contact us within 48 hours at admin@downtoearthcuisine.com. We will evaluate each case individually and may offer a credit, replacement, or refund at our discretion. Refunds are not available for orders cancelled after the Monday billing cutoff.

Opt-In: By enabling SMS notifications in your Account Settings or checking the SMS consent box during checkout and providing your mobile phone number, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from Down to Earth Cuisine at the number provided. Consent is not a condition of purchase. The verbatim consent disclosure shown at the consent checkbox is: “By checking the box for SMS, you consent to receive recurring transactional text messages from Down to Earth Cuisine at the number provided about your orders, deliveries, meal selections, payment alerts, and subscription status. Opt-Out: You can opt out at any time by replying STOP (or any of STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE) to any message you receive from us. You will receive a one-time confirmation message. You may also disable SMS notifications in your Account Settings at www.downtoearthcuisine.com/account/.

Carriers Supported: All major US carriers are supported, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

SMS/Text Messaging Terms: SMS consent and mobile information are handled according to our Privacy Policy and are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

7. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used fraudulently.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, recipes, graphics, and software — is the property of Down to Earth Cuisine or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Down to Earth Cuisine shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services or website. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of King County, Washington.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
