Chef David Moniz's Bio

With over a decade of experience in kitchens throughout the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, Chef David Moniz brings a practical, grounded, and flavor-driven approach to every meal he creates. Born and raised in California and formally trained at Le Cordon Bleu, he developed his culinary foundation in some of the region’s most demanding, high-volume, and forward-thinking food environments.

From 2013 to 2024, Chef David cooked for major tech campuses, private clients, and culinary programs, refining his ability to move seamlessly between large-scale production and intimate, customized dining. His time cooking for Apple and Facebook strengthened his skill in delivering consistent, high-quality meals under pressure, while his work in research and development most notably with Chowbotics by DoorDash deepened his expertise in recipe development, food innovation, and efficient kitchen systems.

In addition, Chef David served as a Resident Chef at Sur La Table, where he led weekly cooking classes, mentored home cooks, and designed menus centered around seasonal ingredients and approachable techniques.

Chef David’s culinary philosophy is rooted in curiosity and cultural connection. He believes the best way to understand people is through the foods that shaped them, the flavors of home, family traditions, and meaningful shared meals. His passion for fusion cuisine comes from blending global influences in ways that feel both authentic and inventive. By combining diverse techniques and cultural inspirations, he creates food that is comforting, personal, and exciting meals that tell a story while bringing people together around the table.

About Down to Earth Cuisine

Down to Earth Cuisine provides meals that are sustainably and responsibly sourced. We use GMO free products, organic when available, and wild caught seafood approved by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Guide to Sustainable Fishing.

Custom delivery uses only compostable containers to reduce plastic waste. We also work with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit that plants trees on our behalf to offset our carbon footprint.
