Chef Jordyn Leigh's Bio

Chef Jordyn Leigh developed her skills working at restaurants until she worked her way up to an Executive Chef role. She has also been a dedicated home chef for years, meal prepping for her family. In 2017, she decided to start taking her health seriously, which is what really kickstarted her passion for cooking. She considers herself a forever student who studies the craft daily, and her dedication has only deepened over time.

One of the highlights of her career was serving as Executive Chef at Boltcutter, a City Weekly top-rated vegan restaurant in Salt Lake City. In a vegan restaurant, creativity is key. The restaurant featured Mexican-inspired cuisine, so learning to replicate flavors and textures that are missed within the vegan community was a welcomed challenge.

She currently co-hosts destination yoga retreats as the private chef. From places like Moab, Utah, to an upcoming retreat in Tulum, Mexico, her passion lies in creating nourishing, exciting menus utilizing local, seasonal, fresh ingredients. This jumpstarted her career as a private chef and made her realize how much she loves being at the head of the entire process. She also enjoys getting to know the attendees personally and utilizing their preferences and aversions to create the menu for each event.

It’s hard for her to pick just one favorite cuisine. She loves fusion food and therefore enjoys a variety of cultures, but she especially loves experimenting with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Chef Jordyn has always had the mindset of being creative with what she had in the kitchen to make something great. But her culinary passion really started when she decided to take her health and the health of the environment more seriously in 2017. She was vegan for over two years, and during that time learned how to make vegetables and plant-based proteins more interesting and enjoyable to eat so she could stay dedicated to her health. That passion ended up spreading to those around her as well, and she ultimately made a career out of it.

Since then, Chef Jordyn has taken a nutrition course and learned more about the gut microbiome. She also decided to learn how to cook animal proteins to diversify the foods she was eating. She is passionate about nutrition and fitness, and specifically how they all work together to increase gut health, brain health, and overall satisfaction with life.

For her, it all starts with the food we eat. Food is a direct energy source, and sometimes it becomes more of a burden instead of something we enjoy. She genuinely loves cooking for others, even more than herself a lot of the time, providing food that is not only enticing, but full of nutritional value. Cooking allows her passions for sustainability, culinary arts, and nutrition to fuse together.

Outside of the kitchen, Chef Jordyn enjoys yoga, pilates, hiking, lifting weights, hula hooping, and crochet. She also enjoys digital and web design in support of her friends’ businesses and learning about quantum physics.
