Chef Heather's Bio

Chef Heather is originally from Atlanta Ga. She moved from there at nine, and spent a couple of years in Northern California. Her family moved to Seattle, Wa, where she would make her home. Back of many years of taking down her southern grandmother’s and her own mother’s recipes, she developed a passion to learn how to cook and create comforting meals for family and friends. Not knowing which career path to choose in high school, she took a Culinary Arts transfer class at a nearby high school and fell in love.

After high school she attended The Art Institute of Seattle and graduated with her AA in culinary. Over the years she has worked in Seattle restaurants, catering, and corporate cafes with a career in the industry of about 25 years. She has also spent many years volunteering to cook meals for those who are in need. She still loves to learn new ingredients, ideas, techniques, and cultures of food and always seeks more knowledge. Food is truly her passion!

Fun Fact

In her spare time she loves fermenting, (think Sauerkraut and Kimchi) cooking, camping, foraging for local mushrooms, going to live shows, hanging with friends and family and her two awesome cats and the best dog ever, Jaxson!

About Down to Earth Cuisine

Down to Earth Cuisine provides meals that are sustainably and responsibly sourced. To help preserve this approach, we use GMO free products, organic when available and wild caught seafood approved by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Guide to Sustainable Fishing.

When we moved over to custom delivery services, it meant having to find new sustainable ways to deliver the meals, using only compostable containers to reduce use and purchasing of plastic. We also work with One Tree Planted a nonprofit organization that plants trees on our behalf to offset our carbon footprint.
